Peter Huistra becomes head coach of Pakhtakor

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Dutch specialist Peter Huistra has been appointed head coach of the Pakhtakor Tashkent.

Until today, Peter Huistra worked as an assistant coach. He worked with Shota Arveladze as part of the coaching staff. Pakhtakor will continue to delight spectators and fans, demonstrating beautiful, dynamic, attacking football, without changing its style and philosophy, which has been built in recent years.

During his football career, Peter played for the famous Scottish club “Glasgow Rangers” for five seasons and became the champion of the country five times. Peter has also played in clubs such as Groningen, Vendam, Twente, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Lierse and Rosendal. In the championships of Holland, Scotland, Japan and Belgium, he took part in 413 matches and scored 78 goals. As part of the Dutch national team in 1988-91, he took part in 8 matches.

Huistra began his coaching career in 2001. Then he was appointed head coach of the youth team "Groningen". Four years later, he became an assistant coach at the Vitesse clubs, from where he moved to the same position at Ajax. Later he worked as a head coach in the youth team "Ajax", clubs "Groningen", "De Graafshap" and in the national team of Indonesia.

In June 2017, he began to work as an assistant coach at Pakhtakor and contributed to the team’s victories.

“I am glad that I became the head coach of Pakhtakor and am proud that the club’s management offered me to accept the team after Shota Arveladze. The management knows that together with me "Pakhtakor" will continue the path of development achieved over the past three and a half years. I will continue to work, our style of play will remain, and maybe it will be even better. We have good footballers, with them we will continue the path that you chose at the very beginning,” said the new head coach of the capital team.

“January is the period when players change teams. In "Pakhtakor" every year someone leaves, and someone comes. Only leaving players should be replaced with players of a good level. This is a kind of test, and this year was no exception,” the Dutch specialist emphasized.

“During my stay here, I got to know many fans, and I have good relations with them. I hope that in the new season we will have warm relations with them. We get their support and this is very important. Football club means fans. I hope we will have a great season together,” he added.
