Khalk Sugurta was opened on 16 May 2011 with formed charter capital of 1.5 million euros and it is 100% subsidiary of Khalk Bank (People’s Bank).

Khalk Bank, one of the largest banks in Uzbekistan, created new insurance company to ensure insurance protection of population.

Currently, Germany's Savings Bank Foundation for International Corporation is rendering technical assistance to develop development strategy of Khalk Sugurta and universal software complex on accounting and analyses of insurance services, which help to form optimal risks portfolio. German side is also assisting to train specialists of insurance company on micro-insurance and work with potential clients.

The main direction of Khalk Sugurta is to provide complex insurance protection of property and personnel interests of small business and private entrepreneurship, develop and promote micro-insurance products among population.

It is planned that Khalk Sugurta will closely cooperate with Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan. In 2011, it is planned to realize pilot insurance project on micro-insurance in Syrdarya and Tashkent region, which will promote micro-insurance among population.
