The second-seeded Peer made her second final appearance in as many weeks since winning the singles title at Guangzhou in China last week. She’s 5-1 in Tour finals during her career.

Sunday marked the second meeting in as many weeks between Peer and Amanmuradova. Peer was a 6-3, 6-3 winner in the second round of last week’s Guangzhou event and has never dropped a set in five lifetime matches against Amanmuradova.

"I’ve played 10 matches in row without dropping a set, and that’s a nice feeling," said Peer. "I’m happy I’m playing well. I had played Akgul four times before and knew her game fairly well, but I knew today would be difficult, so I tried to play my best and not give her any chances. I’m happy by father was with me these last two weeks, because I won both tournaments."

Amanmuradova was back in the final of her hometown tournament for the second time. She was a loser to Michaella Krajicek in 2005 in her only previous appearance in a WTA Tour final.

The Tashkent native, who is ranked 113th in the world, had not been past the second round of any WTA Tour event this year prior to this week.

"The keys to my wins this week, my forehand and serve, just didn’t work today," said Amanmuradova. "I’m disappointed to have lost after coming so far, but I’m happy to have lost to a good player. I give credit to Shahar for playing great tennis and handling the pressure of the large crowd today."
