Pax Track system launched at Tashkent International Airport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Pax Track system has been installed and launched in test mode at Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov. This comprehensive passenger monitoring system was demonstrated to journalists during a press tour, showcasing how it operates and the upcoming technological upgrades for the airport.

Passengers need to scan their boarding pass at the turnstiles located immediately after the check-in area, while staff will use their access passes. The system will also be integrated with immigration and aviation security screening systems, allowing airport staff to track a passenger’s location and verify whether they have passed into the sterile area after check-in.

Currently, the departure hall has 40 check-in counters (37 in the main hall, 2 in the CIP Lounge, and 1 in the VIP hall). Following the renovation, the number of counters will increase to 90, including 12 hybrid Self Check-in and Baggage Drop Off counters where passengers can check in and drop off their luggage independently.

The number of immigration control lines in the departure area will increase from 34 to 54, including E-gates. The screening area will expand to 15 channels. The arrival area will also feature a new passport control zone with 48 channels and an increase in baggage carousels from four to eight. Additionally, the merger of the departure and arrival halls will create approximately 4000 square meters for meeting areas.

As part of the renovation, BHS and BRS baggage handling and control systems will be implemented. New equipment and software will be installed for both departures and arrivals. This system will enable automatic baggage sorting by flight, track baggage from acceptance to loading, and reduce human error. A mobile app is also planned to be developed, allowing passengers to track their baggage using the baggage tag number.

In the final stage of the renovation, starting in September this year, the arrival and departure halls will be combined into a single terminal complex with a total area of around 105,000 square meters. This will increase the terminal’s capacity from 1,200 passengers per hour to 2,400.
