Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Participants of the XV Tashkent Film Festival “Pearl of the Silk Road” adopted an appeal to the President of Uzbekistan.
In an appeal, the filmmakers expressed gratitude to the President of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the hospitality and the conditions created at the Festival, and also expressed their readiness to continue to contribute to the development of the industry.
Filmmakers noted that every year the geography of the Tashkent Film Festival is expanding:
“On your initiative, the Tashkent International Film Festival, which dates back to 1958, was revived in 2021. Countries from Asia and Africa took part in the first film festival, and later they were joined by filmmakers from Latin America. And today, the film festival, revived in a new format, has gathered participants from all continents, representing 51 countries and more than 300 filmmakers, united by the motto: “Peace, progress and enlightenment”
Without exception, all filmmakers noted the unique broad and thoughtful educational program with the participation of dozens of foreign filmmakers, which took place as part of the Tashkent Film Festival:
“A special emphasis of the XV Tashkent Film Festival was placed on educational programs and creative meetings for the young generation of filmmakers not only from Uzbekistan, but also from many countries around the world. Outstanding filmmakers from 51 countries conducted more than 50 master classes for 6 thousand admirers of the art of cinema.”
The authors of the appeal noted the intensive and powerful development of industrial infrastructure in New Uzbekistan:
“We visited the House of Cinematographers named after Alisher Navoi, the Museum of Cinema History, high-tech pavilions of the restored Uzbekfilm film concern, got acquainted with the technical equipment and 3D studios, modern cinemas in Tashkent with DCP projection and much more. An important contribution to the future of national cinema is the opening of specialized educational institutions"
In conclusion, the participants of the XV Tashkent Film Festival expressed their readiness to help in the development of cinema in New Uzbekistan:
“We are ready to help the development of cinema with our professional contribution. This will serve not only the further development of the film industry, but also the education and upbringing of the new generation. On behalf of all participants of the XV Tashkent International Film Festival allow to express my sincere gratitude to you for the hospitality and the created conditions and wish you good health and great success in your efforts for the benefit of New Uzbekistan.”
The appeal was signed by such prominent film figures as two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey (USA), winner of the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival, two Palme d’Or awards at the Cannes Film Festival Emir Kusturica, and Golden Lion Award winner at the Venice Film Festival Krzysztof Zanussi ( Poland), winner of two prizes at the Berlin Film Festival Pietro Marcello (Italy), winner of the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival Alexander Sokurov (Russia), winner of the Golden Globe Award Siddiq Barmak (Afghanistan/France), Oscar-nominated director Hassan Nasser (Great Britain), French cinema star Sami Naseri, Golden Eagle award winner Alexey Uchitel (Russia), Honored Artist of Georgia, producer and director Irakli Kvirikadze, Honored Artist of Russia Elizaveta Boyarskaya, General Director of ROSKINO Ekaterina Naumova, Director of the Tajikfilm State Institution Mahmadsaid Shokhiyon, President of Kazakhfilm JSC Azamat Satybaldy, Director of the Cinematography Department under the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Akzhol Bekbolotov, Chairman of the Guild of Film Producers and Screenwriters SE-SAM Mehmet Soyarslan (Turkey) and hundreds other famous representatives of cinema.
