Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Tashkent metro has introduced the MyID Palm payment system, allowing passengers to pay for rides using the unique vein pattern on their palms. This was announced by Uzinfocom.

The technology leverages biometric identification, scanning the distinctive vein patterns of passengers’ palms to process payments.

The system was developed by local specialists in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, the ATTO payment service, and Octobank. Uzinfocom assures that the technology ensures a high level of user data security, protecting biometric profiles from unauthorized access and forgery.

Currently, MyID Palm scanners operate in test mode on 12 stations along the Chilanzar line, from Olmazor to Buyuk Ipak Yuli. Plans are underway to expand the system to all stations in the Tashkent metro.

To use the system, passengers need an ATTO transport card and a smartphone with the relevant app installed.

Biometric profiles can be created at info-kiosks located at stations equipped with the necessary hardware.

Additionally, the MyID Palm feature is expected to be integrated into the Octobank mobile app, enabling users to link any bank card for metro fare payments.

The system’s testing phase began in late November 2023 at the Druzhba Narodov metro station.
