Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A citizen of Kazakhstan, the owner of a bus in which 52 citizens of Uzbekistan died in a fire on the Samara-Shymkent highway in January 2018, was detained on the territory of Sergeli district of Tashkent. This was reported by the press service of the Municipal Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent.
The 46-year-old citizen of Kazakhstan did not appear in the law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan and hid from the investigation.
The detainee is accused in Kazakhstan of committing a crime under Article 348, part 4 of the Criminal Code (poor quality repair of vehicles or their commissioning with technical faults).
Prior to the decision on his extradition, he was placed in the institution of the Main Department of execution of punishment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The transfer procedure of the detainee to the law enforcement bodies of Kazakhstan will be carried out in accordance with the international legal agreements between the two countries, Tashkent city policy said in its statement.
