The regulator said over 6 million people use services of mobile operators at the beginning of 2008. The growth rate of subscribers in two months comprised 16%. The mobile penetration in Uzbekistan reached 26.05%.

The agency said the number of mobile users could reach 12 million to the end of 2008 if the current growth rate kept.

Currently, five mobile operators work in Uzbekistan, including MTS-Uzbekistan (former Uzdunrobite), Unitel (working under Beeline trademark), Coscom, Perfectum Mobile (CDMA standard) and Uzbektelecom Mobile (CDMA standard).
