Over 50,000 people were left without electricity and heat in Washington state due to snowfall

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Storms and heavy snowfall damaged power lines in Washington state (USA). As a result, more than 50,000 people were left without electricity and heat, the Associated Press reported.

Washington Governor Jay Insley introduced a state of emergencyregime on Friday. He warned the public that a storm had been predicted that “hadn’t been seen for many years,” Insley also urged residents of the state to refrain from traveling by personal transport whenever possible and to take extra precautions beforehand if they still have to drive.

The main problem was the trees and branches, which collapsed on the power line under the weight of snow. It is noted that in the area of the largest city of the state - Seattle - the height of snow drifts reaches 20.3 centimeters.

The FlightAware website, which tracks aircraft movements, reports that a blizzard and heavy snowfall on Saturday led to the cancellation of 199 and a delay of 123 flights at Seattle International Airport.
