Over 15,000 Uzbeks Performed Hajj in 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — More than 15,000 citizens of Uzbekistan visited Islam’s holy sites during the 2025 Hajj season, according to the Dunyo Information Agency.

The pilgrimage was organized with the support of the Committee on Religious Affairs, the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, and the country's diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all involved institutions, the pilgrimage was carried out smoothly and at a high level. Saudi authorities commended Uzbekistan for its effective organization and provision of conditions for the pilgrims.

Uzbek pilgrims began arriving in Saudi Arabia on 13 May, with the last groups entering the kingdom by 30 May. Their return home took place between 12 and 29 June, with daily direct flights arranged from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to various regions of Uzbekistan.

Unfortunately, the pilgrimage was not without tragedy. Due to extreme heat and pre-existing chronic illnesses, four officially registered pilgrims passed away. Additionally, four other Uzbek nationals who had traveled to Saudi Arabia illegally also died. Lacking official status, they were unable to receive medical care. Despite repeated warnings from religious authorities, these individuals chose an unsafe path, which led to fatal consequences.

More than 40 pilgrims also contacted Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions after losing personal documents. Emergency return certificates are being issued to them promptly. The General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Jeddah continues to provide necessary legal and consular assistance to citizens facing difficulties during the Hajj.
