OSCE Secretary General holds meeting at Uzbekistan’s MFA
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Lamberto Zannier held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on 22 January 2013.

The sides considered actual issues and perspectives of cooperation between Uzbekistan and OSCE, regional problems, fighting transnational threats and other issues of mutual interest, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

OSCE Secretary General was informed about the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, which was held on 18 January, which summed up results of social-economic development of 2012 and determined priorities for 2013.

It was emphasized that Uzbekistan has chosen its own model of evolutionary reform and modernization, which served as a solid foundation for creation of sustainable economic development. It was said that it assisted to withstand the negative effects of the global financial crisis, and achieve high economic and social progress.

The concept of deepening democratic reforms and forming civil society in the country, proposed by the Uzbek President in 2010, is giving significant results.

At the meeting, the sides pay priority attention to practical interaction within the joint implemented annual projects, directed at providing technical assistance to establishments of Uzbekistan to strengthen their opportunities in various areas.

The sides also exchanged opinion on further developing and reforming of the OSCE.
