OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan holds training course on juvenile justice, opens educational centers at Police Academy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A three-day OSCE-supported training course for the Uzbekistan’s Police Academy teachers on the system of juvenile justice began today in Tashkent.

The OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan organized the training course in co-operation with the OSCE Strategic Police Matters Unit and the country’s Interior Ministry as part of its ongoing support to the Uzbekistan's Police Academy.

Experts from the National Police Academy of Ireland will deliver the course. Teachers from Uzbekistan will learn about the juvenile justice system, experiences and best practices of other OSCE participating States.

"This course gives participants a chance to gain an insight into the enforcement policy in the field of protection of rights of the minors and learn more about the legal regulation of prevention of child neglect and minor offence,” said Ambassador Istvan Venczel, the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan.

On this occasion the Centre on Interactive Education on Prevention of Human Trafficking and Illicit Drugs Circulation, as well as the Centre for Criminalist Research established within the Police Academy with technical support of the OSCE were opened.

“These two centres will contribute to the development of knowledge and professionalism of future police officers,” said Shavkat Ikarmov, the Head of Police Academy.
