Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic (UzDaily.com) -- The OSCE Centre in Bishkek handed over three mobile forensic laboratories to the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry at a ceremony on 5 November 2008.

The vehicles provided by the OSCE Centre will go to forensic police units in Bishkek and Osh, and are equipped with crime scene kits, lighting devices, self-contained power supplies and other tools. The donation is aimed at increasing efficiency and supporting crime scene inspection, and the collection and analysis of evidence.

"The vehicles and forensic equipment for the Kyrgyz police will allow us to improve the quality of police investigations and build more trust between the population and police," said Interior Minister Moldomusa Kongantiev, thanking the OSCE for the donation.

"Coinciding with Kyrgyzstan’s National Police Day, I hope that this OSCE technical contribution to the National Police’s forensic and investigation units will help them in their work," said Ambassador Andrew Tesoriere, the Head of the OSCE Centre.

The equipment handover is part of an OSCE Centre project aimed at building the capacity of the Kyrgyz Police.
