OSCE Border Management Staff College in Dushanbe holds course on national border management strategies
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Senior border officers from 12 OSCE participating States are taking part in a workshop on national border management strategies being held this week at the OSCE Border Management Staff College in Dushanbe.

The five-day workshop, which concludes on Friday, brings together 20 senior border officers, custom experts and government officials from Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine.

Workshop topics include sessions on the three pillars of modern border management co-operation: intra-service, inter-service and international co-operation, as well as case studies on different countries’ models of national border strategy processes. Workshop participants will make a study visit to the Nizhniy Pyandzh border crossing point at the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

"We are convinced that courses such as this one will help the OSCE Border Management Staff College develop into a well-established and vibrant institution that contributes to the consolidation of OSCE border security and management activities and promotes knowledge and best practices," said Klaus Rasmussen, Deputy Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan.

The course is the second one held at the College, which was established in May 2009. Next month, the College will hold a seminar on forged documents.
