Organization of Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center discussed in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Inha University in Tashkent hosted a meeting with the software exporters to discuss mechanisms of realization of tasks, put forward with the decree of the President of Uzbekistan “On measures on radically improving conditions for development of information technologies in the republic” from 30 June 2017.

Innovative center for support of development and implementation of information technologies “Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center” is created in line with the presidential decree.

Ministry for development of information technologies and communications of Uzbekistan organized the meeting with software exporters at cooperation with Inha University in Tashkent.

The event was organized to receive recommendations and proposals from the IT community to organize effective implementation of the provisions of the decree of the President of Uzbekistan. The new center should become an important link in development of the IT sector in Uzbekistan and increase of export potential of Uzbekistan. This task can be achieved only with close cooperation of state bodies and IT companies.

Representatives of the Ministry for development of information technologies and communications of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Finance, Central Bank, other state bodies, as well as heads of the companies, operating in ICT market, took part in the discussion.

New initiative attracted great interest of IT-companies, who gave their recommendations and proposals for effective organization of the Center’s activities and attracting residents.

The participants called to speed up development of IT-infrastructure in Uzbekistan, including Data-Centers and Internet services. They also raised legal issues, which should be solved via introducing changes to the legislation.

One of the main issues of discussion was training of programmers. The participants of the meeting noted that there are a shortage of specialists in the country and they called to establish cooperation between universities and companies to train demanded personnel.

Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center is created on principle of extraterritoriality and operate within all territory of Uzbekistan with accommodation of its residents throughout the country to create the most favorable conditions for development of ICT products and solutions.

President of Uzbekistan granted a number of privileges and preferences to the participants of the Innovation Center for support of development and implementation of information technologies “Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center”. In particular, the residents of the center are exempted from paying taxes and compulsory payments till 1 January 2028.

Employees of the residents of the Innovation Center will pay personal income tax at the rate of 7.5% and insurance premiums of citizens to off-budget Pension Fund at the rate of 4.5%.
