Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Omani daily specialized newspaper Vijhat published an article dedicated to an important event in the social and cultural life of Uzbekistan - the announcement by the Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) of the city of Bukhara as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2020.

The author of the article notes that events in the republic on this occasion will begin on April 15 this year.

It is expected that over 300 guests from more than 60 countries will participate in them, including the Ministers of Culture of the OIC member countries, official representatives of UNESCO and ISESCO, as well as other international organizations.

The program of events includes the holding of two conferences "The Role of Uzbekistan in the Cultural Heritage of the Islamic World" and "The Contribution of Imam Bukhari to the Development of Modern Science", the organization of international scientific and practical forums and exhibitions of works by masters, calligraphers, as well as celebrations on the occasion of the 915th anniversary of birthday of Abdulkhalik Gizhduvani and the 700th anniversary of Bahauddin Naqshbandi.

“It should be noted that the Uzbek side previously discussed organizational issues related to the proclamation of Bukhara as the “Cultural Capital of the Islamic World 2020” with the ISESCO delegation led by the senior representative of the Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture, Rihiati Salih Najib,” the Omani edition reports.
