Uzbekistan 02/04/2009 Oman economy minister impressed by Uzbek expertise

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, minister of national economy and deputy chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council and the trade delegation accompanying him, visited many institutes, companies and factories in Uzbekistan.

Macki and his delegation visited Science Academy and Al Birooni Institute for Oriental Studies (Al Birooni Library) in Tashkent, Times of Oman reported.

During the visit, they listened to a briefing by the officials on the activities, functions and cultural significance of the academy in spreading the Islamic and Arab culture and preserving the ancient manuscripts of the library, which date back more than 1,000 years. Macki and his delegation also visited the site for constructing a new building for Al Birooni Library financed by the Sultanate as per the orders of His Majesty the Sultan.

The construction of a new building for the library will help preserve the ancient Islamic and Arab manuscripts and books.

This will also provide an opportunity to researchers to update their knowledge on Islamic and Arab cultures and civilisations.

The library contains thousands of ancient manuscripts and a large number of Islamic and Arabic books in various Islamic sciences and cultural fields.

Following this, Macki and his delegation visited an aircraft factory in Tashkent, made a tour of its various sections and familiarised with various types of aircraft manufactured there and their qualitative and marketing fields.

It is noted that the aircraft factory in Tashkent was established in 1941 and manufactures different types of aircraft and deals with a number of aviation companies of countries such as Russia, Jordan and other Middle East and Asian countries.

Macki and his delegation also visited a leading garment factory in Tashkent, made a tour of its various sections and familiarised with the production, processing and marketing strategies.

He also visited a number of leading companies and familiarised himself with their modern equipment of production and its processing and marketing methods. He also visited Timur Museum, located in the heart of Tashkent.

The museum houses a number of remnants of Taimur dynasty and treasure of historical legacy. The trade delegation, accompanying Macki, expressed their satisfaction saying that they were amazed by the modern technology and skilled manpower and well marketing in Uzbekistan and called for exchange of expertise and to boost economic relations between the two countries.

Sheikh Yousuf bin Yaqub Al Harthy, a member of the trade delegation said: Uzbekistan’s trade companies are highly developed and equipped with state-of-the-art technology using highly qualitative materials and adopting scientific methods in processing and marketing with amble support from the government. They also draw a huge investment from abroad.

It is noted that Uzbekistan is one of the historical counties in the Middle Asia keeping Islamic and Arab cultures and traditions.

Tariq bin Ali Al Ajami, another member, hailed the modern development of the Uzbek companies and their skilled manpower and expertise, noting that the private sector in Uzbekistan had a significant role to play in near future.

It would flourish more with the support of Uzbek government as well as foreign investment.

The visit has given us a golden opportunity to get familiarised with the modern developments and economic situations in Uzbekistan as well as in social and cultural levels and to strengthen the mutual relations between the two countries, he concluded.
