Twelve teams have qualified for the final round and they will be divided into three groups of four teams each.
The 12 teams have been ranked on the basis of the Asian qualifiers and Final Round of the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament Beijing 2008 and the teams which failed to qualify for the third round have been removed from the list.
The 12 ranked teams are: 1. Korea Republic, 2. Australia, 3. Japan, 4. Iraq, 5. Bahrain, 6. Qatar, 7. Saudi Arabia, 8. Syria, 9. Uzbekistan, 10. Oman, 11. UAE, and 12. Malaysia.
The teams will play a league format according to which each team in the group shall play two matches (home and away) against every other team. The winners of each group will qualify for the London Olympics while the runners-up of the three groups will qualify for the play-off.
The match days for final round are: Match Day 1-21 September 2011 (Wednesday), Match Day 2- 23 November 2011 (Wednesday), Match Day 3-27 November 2011 (Sunday), Match Day 4-5 February 2012 (Sunday), Match Day 5-22 February 2012 (Wednesday), Match Day 6-14 March 2012 (Wednesday).
