Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An award ceremony for judokas who won licenses for Tokyo 2020 and their coaches was held at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdujabbor Abduvakhidov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov, the leadership of the NOC headed by Rustam Shaabdurakhmanova, representatives of the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan, judokas and their parents, coaches, and the media.
First, the adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Abduvakhidov read out the President’s Decree on awarding the representative of the Uzbekistan national judo team Gulnoza Matniyazov with the Shukhrat medal and presented the award to the judoka.
In a solemn ceremony, the licensees of the XXXII Summer Olympic Games (7 men and 3 women) and their coaches were awarded cash certificates. Judokas received certificates for 100 million soums, and their mentors - for 50 million soums. Davlat Bobonov and Gulnoza Matniyazova spoke on behalf of the judoists, as well as the coach of the national team Uktam Rakhmonov and promised to justify the trust placed in them and to perform with dignity at the Olympic Games.
At the end of the event, the chairman of the NOC spoke with each judoka and wished them luck in Tokyo 2020.
For information, for the first time in the history of the country’s judo, 10 of our judokas will take part in the Olympic Games. Also, for the first time we won the chance to participate in the team-mixed direction. Tomorrow the delegation of the national team will leave for Maizuru for the final stage of preparation.
