OliveTelecom produces first party of mobile phones, tablets
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An Uzbek-Indian joint venture OliveTelecom produced the first party of mobile handsets and tablet computers.

Pravda Vostoka newspaper reported that the enterprise, which is located at the special industrial-economic zone Navoi, started to produce telephones, mobile phones and tablet computers of CDMA standard.

Currently, the enterprise produced 1,000 units of fixed telephones, 1,000 units of tablet computers and 13,000 mobile phones.

Head of assembly shop of the venture Erkin Abdurakhmanov said that the enterprise only works under order of Uzbekteleccom. The first part of products will be delivered to UzMobile, a mobile operator of Uzbektelecom.

He said that it is planned to deliver the first party of products to Tashkent Institute of Information Technologies. He said that the products can compete with European analogues and they are much cheaper. He said students and workers of budget organizations can purchase products.

Olive Telecom JV specializes in manufacturing of telecommunication equipment, including mobile and fixed terminals, and tablet PCs.

The founders of Olive Telecom JV are Uzbektelecom Joint Stock Company and Olive Telecommunication Pvt. Ltd. (India). Production is organized in Navoi free industrial and economic zone.

Currently, the joint venture produces mobile and fixed phones for CDMA-networks, tablet computers and USB-modems.
