Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 2 September, representatives of government organizations and the public of Tashkent gathered to pay tribute to Islam Karimov.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the ceremony and laid a wreath at the monument of the First President of our country.

Islam Karimov was the leader who proclaimed the independence of our country and led it on the path of progress. In his speech during the Independence Day celebration, our head of state emphasized the significance of this historical event:

"Thanks to independence, our national statehood was reborn. Uzbekistan entered a new historical era. It is precisely because of independence that we have taken a worthy place in the world community."

On these significant days, we remember with gratitude the patriots who fought for independence and contributed to the formation of our state. It was during this critical moment in our history, under challenging conditions, that the First President stood at the helm of the country.

At the Islam Karimov Scientific and Educational Memorial Complex, verses from the Quran were recited. The First President’s achievements in maintaining peace and stability in the country and improving the well-being of the people were highlighted.

During the ceremony, representatives of the Oliy Majlis, the Presidential Administration, the Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and departments, and the public also laid flowers at the monument to the First President.

Commemorative events were also held in Samarkand and Karshi.
