Official: Cotton Harvest Payments in 2025 Set at 1,373 and 2,000 Soums per Kilogram
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan has denied social media reports claiming that farmers will be paid 1,800 soums per kilogram of harvested cotton.
The ministry clarified that in 2025 the official rates are as follows: 1,373 soums per kilogram for mechanized harvesting, 2,000 soums per kilogram for manual harvesting, the latter being a recommended price.
In practice, payment amounts may be determined through agreements between clusters, farm managers, and cotton pickers.
Additionally, the state provides subsidies of 1,000 soums per kilogram of grown cotton to help offset producers’ expenses.
The ministry emphasized that this policy aims to protect producers’ interests, encourage farm labor, and ensure the stability of the agricultural sector.
Reports of a 1,800 soum payment per kilogram are inaccurate and not supported by official documents.
The ministry urged media outlets and bloggers to rely only on official sources and refrain from spreading unverified information that could mislead the public and result in legal consequences.
