Nurses detained during attempt to sell a child for US$500

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Two nurses of the maternity hospital department at the medical association of Uzbekistan district of Ferghana region were detained while receiving US$500 for the sale of a 5-day-old child, the press service of the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan said.

They were detained during operational activities by the staff of the Fergana Regional Department and the Kokand district department of the Department together with law enforcement agencies.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated against the nurses under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, investigative actions are underway.
