Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Nuriddin Ismailov has been elected Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the new convocation.

The first organizational session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis is taking place in Tashkent.

In accordance with the Law "On the Regulations of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan," a Council of Representatives of Political Parties was formed at the session, which nominated candidates for the position of Speaker of the lower house of parliament.

After a brief recess, following the proposal of the Council of Representatives of Political Parties, the deputies, through a secret ballot, elected Nuriddin Ismailov, a representative of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, as Speaker of the Legislative Chamber.

It is worth noting that Nuriddin Ismailov also served as Speaker of the previous convocation of the Legislative Chamber.
