Number of population of Uzbekistan reaches 28.4m persons
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of the resident population of Uzbekistan as of 1 July 2011 reached 28.639 million persons, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

According to the committee, some 14.697 million persons or 51.3% of the population live in urban settlements.

In January-June 2011 the birth rate was 18.8 pro mil and decreased by 1.6 pro mil in comparison with the corresponding period of 2010 (20.4 pro mil).

In the reporting period the death rate was 4.8 pro mil or increased by 0.2 pro mil in comparison with the corresponding period of 2010.

Out of the total number of the dead, 66.9% died of cardiovascular diseases, 7.5% – neoplasms, 6,2% - respiratory diseases, 6.2% – diseases of digestive organs, 4.5% - accidents, poisonings and traumas.

According to the preliminary data in January-June, 3,100 children died at the age under one year. The infant mortality rate decreased from 11 pro mil in January-June 2010 to 10 pro mil in January-June 2011.

Out of the total number of children died at the age under one year, 49% died of states occurring in perinatal period, 34.6% - respiratory diseases, 6.5% - congenital anomalies and 4.7% - infectious and parasitic diseases.

In January-June 2011, 113,600 marriages and 9,000 divorces were registered. There were 8 marriages (in 2010 – 7.9) and 0.6 divorces (in 2010 – 0.7) per 1,000 population.

According to the preliminary data in January-June 2011, the number of immigrants was 65,100 persons. The arrival rate per 1000 population decreased from 5 pro mil in January-June 2010 to 4.6 pro mil in January-June 2011.

In January-June 2011, the number of emigrants was 79,300 persons. The departure rate per 1000 population decreased from 6.3 in January-June 2010 to 5.6 pro mil in January-June 2011.

The balance of migration was minus 14,200 persons versus minus 18,000 persons in the corresponding period of 2010.
