Number of mobile users in Uzbekistan makes up 22.9m

Number of mobile communication users in Uzbekistan made up 22.9 million in 2015, which rose by 10.62% year-on-year, head of ICT Department of the Ministry of Development of Information Technologies and Communication of Uzbekistan Olimjon Umarov said on 18 April 2019.
Speaking at the Uzbek-Korean IT Forum in Tashkent, Umarov said that number of internet users in Uzbekistan rose from 10.2 million in 2014 to 12 million in 2015 (+17.64%).
According to him, some 1.01 million people use online banking services in 2015 against 0.53 million in 2014. Number of users of electronic signature grew from 0.69 million people in 2014 to 1.4 million people in 2015.
Olimjon Umarov underlined that share of ICT in GDP of Uzbekistan rose from 1.8% in 2012 to 2% in 2015. The volume of telecom market in 2015 made up US$1.569 billion in 2015 against US$1.016 billion in 2012. IT market’s volume rose from US$41.3 million in 2012 to US$84.6 million in 2015.
The volume of products and services by the sector made up US$2.1 million in 2015 compared to US$1.6 million in 2012, he said.
Digital TV coverage in Uzbekistan currently makes up 69%, he said. Umarov underlined that the figure will reach 88% in 2016.
