Novo-Angrenskaya TES: Press tour organized for media representatives

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Novo-Angrenskaya Thermal Power Station (TES) is the largest power plant in our country’s energy system operating on coal. This major energy facility serves as the primary power station supplying electricity to residents of the city of Angren, Akhangaran district, and the densely populated Ferghana Valley.

In preparation for the 2024/2025 autumn-winter season, the company is gearing up to ensure consumers receive stable and high-quality electric power. To familiarize the public with the processes occurring at the power station, a press tour was organized involving representatives from the media, journalists, and bloggers.

The power station comprises 7 units with a capacity of 300 MW each, totaling an installed capacity of 2100 MW. Thermal energy production capacity amounts to 186 thousand Gcal. The power station also supplies thermal energy to greenhouse consumers located in the city of Nurabad and adjacent areas near the station.

Over 1600 workers and staff are employed at the facility.

The station operates to ensure uninterrupted electricity production throughout the four seasons, particularly during cold weather conditions observed in the winter when natural gas pressure is relatively low.

To ensure continuous supply of electric and thermal energy to consumers, the station planned to generate 2.44 billion kWh of electricity and 112 thousand Gcal of thermal energy in the first 6 months of the current year. Actual production reached 2.55 billion kWh of electricity and 118.1 thousand Gcal of thermal energy, achieving 104.4/105.5 percent of the planned targets (respectively for electricity and thermal energy).

For reference, Novo-Angrenskaya TES annually produces an average of 5 billion kWh of electricity and 200,000 Gcal of thermal energy.

Currently, the station is gradually implementing tasks set within the campaign to prepare for the 2024/2025 autumn-winter season. Energy units and devices are undergoing major, intermediate, and current repairs.

According to the repair plan, major repair works on Unit No. 1 have been completed, and the unit is ready for the autumn-winter season. Currently, intermediate repair works are underway on Unit No. 4 of the station. Participants of the press tour had the opportunity to observe ongoing repair processes.

During the tour, media representatives were briefed on the operation of the open switchgear devices with voltages of 500/220 kV, which are crucial for transmitting the electricity produced at the station to the unified energy system.

Participants also learned about the electricity production process at the company’s control panel for energy equipment and at Unit No. 5 of the station.

The total weight of the turbine equipment for Unit No. 5 amounts to 690 tons, with a power capacity of 300 MW. Water is boiled in the boiler to generate hot steam, which rotates a 400-ton rotor at 3000 rotations per minute, producing electricity in the generator.

During the press tour, media representatives received detailed answers to their questions about the company’s operations.
