Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Observers note that the current situation in US universities is “national chaos”.

There are no uniform guidelines from the federal government on the safe resumption of face-to-face training and action when infections are detected in students, and existing guidelines are often conflicting.

So, against the backdrop of the White House’s new strategy - a move away from mass testing of the population - Harvard Medical School experts point out that universities can probably prevent an outbreak of COVID-19 if all students, including asymptomatic students, are followed the rules of conduct and tested for coronavirus every two days.

There is no common approach to resuming classes among health care professionals and school administrators. This forces the leadership of educational institutions to improvise in search of methods to prevent new outbreaks and prevent the spread of the disease:

- 20% of colleges plan to teach on a regular basis, while about 1/3 mainly or exclusively online;

- Regular (daily, weekly) tests are not required in all colleges, many offer only sporadic tests or when symptoms are present.

Universities face a number of challenges such as forcing students to comply with public health regulations and financial constraints.

Testing 5,000 students every two days during the fall semester will require about 195,000 test suites. The current cost for university tests is US$25 to US$30 per test.

In general, according to experts, in the event that universities fail to find optimal solutions to counter the spread of coronavirus, in the coming months there will be many hot spots in many places. This, in turn, can have a very significant negative impact not only on the higher education system, but, possibly, on the entire course of the epidemic in the United States.
