New tourism content from Uzbekistan presented in Tokyo

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tokyo organized an event titled "Tour to Discover Uzbekistan’s National Art of Embroidery and Suzani" to introduce new tourism content for Japanese tourists, Dunyo news agency reported.

The event was organized by the Uzbekistan Association of Culture and Tourism, the travel company "RTravel Co. Ltd", and the Japanese brand "Kinuya". The presentation featured information about Uzbekistan’s historical monuments and UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Participants were introduced to the tourism potential of historical cities like Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Shakhrisabz, and Termez, along with Uzbek traditions, cuisine, and tourist routes.

Special emphasis was placed on Uzbekistan’s applied arts. Attendees learned about international festivals and events aimed at developing and promoting traditional crafts and folk art.

Rie Takashima, founder of the "Kinuya" brand, which sells Uzbek national crafts, ceramics, and embroidery in Japan, gave a presentation. She spoke about the history, styles, and directions of Uzbek national embroidery. It was noted that Uzbekistan’s embroidery, influenced by various cultures due to its location on the Silk Road, is unique, particularly the Bukhara, Samarkand, and Surkhandarya schools with their centuries-old embroidery traditions.

A live demonstration of silk fiber preparation used in embroidery and the nuances of color harmony allowed participants to experience the process of creating unique patterns firsthand.

The participants were also introduced to the "Introduction Tour to the National Art of Embroidery and Suzani of Uzbekistan", a tourist package developed by the Association of Culture and Tourism in collaboration with "RTravel Co. Ltd". This new tourism content will be implemented in August with a group of Japanese tourists. The 7-day tour includes meetings with suzani embroiderers in Bukhara and Samarkand, live observations of the embroidery process, and participation in masterclasses.

Manabu Fukui, manager of the overseas tourism department of "RTravel Co. Ltd.", noted the high interest in this newly developed tour package.

Additionally, the event featured an exhibition of Uzbek suzani, and guests were provided with tourist guides and maps of Uzbekistan in Japanese.
