Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with World Bank representative Rita Almeida to discuss reforms in IT education and the digital economy in Uzbekistan, as well as potential support from the World Bank.
The meeting focused on prospects for collaboration and the training of specialists in these areas. World Bank representatives praised Uzbekistan’s achievements in its educational system and programs aimed at developing digital skills.
The efforts made in the digital transformation of Uzbekistan were also highly regarded, and World Bank representatives expressed their readiness to provide further support for this process.
In turn, Minister Sherzod Shermatov highlighted the ongoing reforms in the education system, particularly the programs aimed at expanding English language teaching and IT education. He noted Uzbekistan’s successes in training specialists in digital technologies and IT, as well as efforts to implement innovative methodologies to develop the necessary skills among students.
The importance of preparing highly qualified personnel for the development of Uzbekistan’s digital economy and ensuring their alignment with international labor market requirements was also emphasized.
As a result of the meeting, World Bank representatives expressed interest in Uzbekistan’s achievements in the digital sector and discussed further prospects for cooperation. The parties agreed to expand their partnership in the fields of digital economy and IT education.
