New projects in the field of tourism: the case of Bostanlik and Tudakul

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 August, Agency for Information and Mass Communications hosted a press conference on "New projects in the field of tourism: the example of Bostanlyk and Tudakul".

It was attended by Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan Fakhriddin Davrukov, Head of the Department for Tourism Planning and Human Resource Development Shukhrat Isakulov, Head of the Department for Attraction of Investments and Development of Tourism Zones Jurabek Akhmedov and Head of the Department for the Development of Certain Types of Tourism Jamshid Gaziev.

Experts talked about new projects aimed at developing tourism in the regions, referring to the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan No. 6002, Resolution No. 4755 and Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 433.

In particular, they talked about the work being done in Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region, a new seaside resort opened by a businessman from Bukhara in Navoi region, and the "Valley of Legends" project in Namangan region.

In particular, in his report, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Fakhriddin Davrukov said: In order to create more convenience for tourists during the quarantine period, a special headquarters has been created in Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Aziz Abdukhakimov.

The territory of Bostanlyk district is cleared of garbage. To date, 1,382 square meters of land have been cleared, about 23,200 trees and flower seedlings have been planted, 738 trees have been whitewashed and profiled. A 4275-meter defensive structure was also whitewashed. Hotels and recreation areas of Bostanlyk region are prepared to receive tourists in accordance with the Safe Tourism program, now there are 132 such objects.

For the convenience of visitors to the area, 1,300 square meters of highways were repaired. Drainage pipes were installed to divert groundwater, more than 10 kilometers of sidewalks were built. A new 4.2-kilometer motorway is also under construction leading to the ski resort of Amirsoy. 10 road signs were installed. More than 100 old wooden fences were removed and replaced with new modern ones. 234 night lights were updated and 750 meters of power lines were upgraded.

To date, 516 guest houses have been created in Bostanlik district. One of the promising projects of Tashkent region is the project of creating an international resort "Beldersay-Chimgan-Nanai".

Its concept and economic model were developed by a consortium of French companies with a grant of 750,000 euros from the FASEP Foundation. The total cost of the Beldersay-Chimgan-Nanai project is US$480 million. Of these, US$280 million are direct investments.

The project consists of 3 stages, the first of which is the creation of an all-season resort in Chimgan district. It is planned to develop tourism infrastructure, including the installation of suspended corridors, ski equipment and various attractions, through a concessional loan of 48 million euros from France’s concessional loan.

As a result, ski tourism will become popular there, modern conditions will be created for local and foreign tourists, and entrepreneurship will develop. The launch of the first phase of the project is scheduled for December 2021. Beekeeping, goat breeding, camel breeding will be expanded in Bostanlyk district, gastronomic and medical tourism will be developed.

Work is underway to develop tourism and service infrastructure based on the sale of vacant and inefficiently used facilities in the area. In particular, it is planned to privatize about 80 state facilities. This will reduce public participation in tourism and encourage private entrepreneurship.

Up to 15 thousand new jobs will be created. Affordable prices will be formed due to increased competition. Also during the press conference, information was presented about a new project launched by a businessman from Bukhara in the Navoi region - the modern tourist resort "Silk Road Family Resort" on the banks of the Tudakul.

According to him: A regular bus service has been established to transport passengers to the lake, the adjacent infrastructure is being developed. The launch of the new project, approved during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the region in March 2019, is planned in two stages.

According to the project of the new resort, which meets international standards, the construction of the facility is planned to be completed in 2022. The total cost of the Silk Road Family Resort project, which includes a beach, a wellness center and a water park, is US$6 million.

The territory of 15 hectares adjacent to the Tudakul coast will be able to receive 500 tourists at the first stage, and more than 1500 tourists at the second stage. The launch of the resort will provide over 150 new jobs. When reaching full capacity, the project will bring in profits of at least 4.5 billion soums per month, and then 40 billion soums.

It is planned to plant 7,000 ornamental trees on the territory, at the moment more than 3,000 seedlings have been planted and a natural lawn has been laid along the beach area. The tourist attraction also includes a beach, a swimming pool, a water park, various attractions, a hotel for 50 people, recreation areas, a ship-shaped restaurant, a summer terrace, a SPA-salon, a natural park, a medical corner, a sanatorium, a sports stadium, an equestrian arena, here also included various additional services such as parking and private water transport. Open-air concerts and shows are also available to visitors to the resort.

In addition, within the framework of the press conference, information was provided about the largest 3-storey Crafts Center in Uzbekistan, a mosque for 15 thousand people, the largest shopping center, hotels, villas, the most modern sights and fountains in the Valley of Legends complex in the Namangan region : The Valley of Legends theme park project is being implemented in collaboration with the Turkish design company DOME + Partners (Dom end Patners).

The project is being implemented in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of September 16, 2017 No. 730 "On measures to create a modern park of culture and recreation in Namangan." Namangan Istiklol Bogi carries out construction work on an area of 155 hectares. Within the framework of the project of the Valley of Legends complex, a two-storey shopping street with 1,300 parking spaces and 112 stores was commissioned.

16 types of modern attractions and a virtual playroom are ready for use. Restaurants were built serving 800 clients. The complex has an indoor and outdoor water park, where 10 service and 5 technical buildings, 16 pools and 7 types of water attractions are ready for operation.

The amphitheater for 2400 seats and the summer amphitheater will host various entertainment events in Namangan region. Modern waterfalls, musical fountains, canals and lakes adorn the complex, surrounded by ornamental trees and benches. The rest of the objects are currently 70% ready.

These are: a 3-storey shopping center, a center of national handicrafts with an area of 23,000 m2, a modern mosque with 3,500 seats (including an open area for 15,000 seats). A 250-room hotel, a 400-bed hotel and 149 villas are being built to serve guests in the Valley of Legends.

Today, more than 60 units of special vehicles and equipment and more than 1000 workers are involved in accelerating construction work at the facility. After that, media representatives asked questions of interest to representatives of the State Committee for Tourism.
