Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has introduced a new procedure for issuing protection orders for women who have suffered from violence and harassment.

According to a resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, protection orders will now be issued through the electronic EPIUG system, and the process will be automated.

The order can be issued online at the initiative of a preventive inspector.

The protection order will be issued free of charge and within 24 hours of documenting the violence or receiving a complaint about the threat of violence.

Starting from 1 December, if a woman experiences violence twice within a year, the preventive inspector will be able to initiate the issuance of an order independently.
