New prefixes for long-distance calls to be introduced in April
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Uzbekistan will introduce new prefixes for long-distance and international calls in two stages, Deputy Director-General of Uzbektelekom joint stock company Nazirjon Hasanov said at the session of the Board of the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information.
He said that new prefixes for long-distance and international calls “0” and “00” are introduced in line with the recommendations of the International Telecommunicaton Union and national plan of measures on introduction of new prefixes.
Nazirjon Hasanov noted that within the first stage till 1 April 2012, new prefixes will be introduced in Tashkent city.
In the second stage till December 2012, the prefixes “8” and “10” will be replaced to “0” and “00” in other regions of Uzbekistan.
He said that Uzbektelecom works with mobile operators on changes number prefixes from 100 to 109 and 112 to new ones from 800 to 809 and 812 respectively.
