New monument for Pakhtakor-79 opened in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A new memorial monument for football club Pakhtakor-79 has been officially opened at cemetery No. 1 in Tashkent city, which is well-known as cemetery named after Botkina, on 11 August 2013, the press service of FC Pakhtakor said.

The club said the ceremony was attended by leaders of the Uzbekistan Football Federation, Uzbekistan Professional Football League, mass media, football community, relatives and friends of the players, who died in the result of air accident in 1979.

Nariman Jalalov and Dmitry An, a son of the Pakhtakor player Mikhail An, opened the monument, the club added.

On 11 August 1979, two passenger airplanes Tu-134A collided at the height of 8,400 meters over Dneprodzerjinsk. One of the airplanes was conducting flight from Tashkent and Minsk. There were 84 people on board, including 17 football players of Pakhtakor.

The second airplane was flying from Chelyabinsk to Voronej and further to Kishinev. There were 88 passengers and 6 crew members on the board. Overall, 178 people died in the result of the accident, including 13 crew members ad 165 passengers.

Each year, on 11 August football community gather at Bonkina cemetery to commemorate football players of Pakhtakor.
