New memorial monument for Pakhtakor-79 team erected
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A new memorial monument for football club Pakhtakor-79 has been erected at cemetery No. 1 in Tashkent city, which is well-known as cemetery named after Botkina, the press service of the Uzbekistan Football Federation said.

The opening ceremony of the monument will be held on 11 August. Representatives of the football community of Uzbekistan, mass media and others will participate at the event.

On 11 August 1979, two passenger airplanes Tu-134A collided at the height of 8,400 meters over Dneprodzerjinsk. One of the airplanes was conducting flight from Tashkent and Minsk. There were 84 people on board, including 17 football players of Pakhtakor. The second airplane was flying from Chelyabinsk to Voronej and further to Kishinev. There were 88 passengers and 6 crew members on the board. Overall, 178 people died in the result of the accident, including 13 crew members ad 165 passengers.

Each year, on 11 August football community gather at Bonkina cemetery to commemorate football players of Pakhtakor.
