It is therefore important to recognize the need to disseminate the significance of new development thinking and how it translates into practical implementation of development strategies amongst practitioners, academia, civil servants, business community and youth.

To promote the HD concept a series of events are happening in Uzbekistan. On 24-26 September Samarqand hosted the HD Summer School. Participants of the HD summer school initially passed an on-line module with lectures, reading material and a test for self-examination.

Those who passed all the online-courses had the opportunity to join the in-house course in Samarqand. View the link to watch Elena Danilova, HD Coordinator talking about one of the exercises played during the summer school that will teach our participants the concept of sustainable development.

In addition to the HD summer school, today Tashkent is hosting the Human Development Community of Practice meeting, which is a platform to exchange knowledge and foster mutual learning to create real network of human development professionals. The focus of the two-day event is on the global Human Development Report and regional and national Human Development Initiatives. Similar events are held regularly to facilitate knowledge sharing.
