New Ambassador of Uzbekistan arrives in Stockholm

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Rahmatulla Nurimbetov, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan, arrived in the Swedish capital this evening, Dunyo News Agency reported.

Before his appointment to Stockholm, Nurimbetov served as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan from 2023 to 2024.

At 47 years old, Nurimbetov holds degrees from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies (now Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies), and the National University of Uzbekistan.

He has been with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2003, holding various positions within the ministry’s central office and at the embassies of Uzbekistan in Germany and Spain, eventually rising to the position of Deputy Minister.

From 2018 to 2024, he also served as Uzbekistan’s National Coordinator for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). His career began at the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan.

Nurimbetov holds a Doctor of Political Science (DsC) degree and is fluent in German, Spanish, and English.

He replaces Nodir Ganiev, who headed Uzbekistan’s Embassy in Stockholm from 2022 to 2024.
