The Netherlands opened their World Cup campaign with the victory over Denmark in the Group E clash at Soccer City in Johannesburg.
The Netherlands dominated the first half, but the sides failed to convert created chances in the match.
Denmark’s defender Simon Poulsen scored the first own goal of the tournament in the early minutes of the match. Dirk Kuyt sealed the victory with a tap-in five minutes from time.
