NBU carries out transactions for US$171m

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan (NBU) carried out 236,000 money transfer operations for US$171 million in 2009.

The bank currently works with such money transfer systems as Western Union, Migom, Bystraya Pochta and Aziya Express, Contact, Leader and Unistream. The bank said it has over 141 points across Uzbekistan, which render money transfer services.

NBU said that it is planning to establish cooperation with other systems like BLIZKO and MoneyGram, taking into account high demand for remittance services.
