Navruz celebrated in Germany

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Frankfurt am Main and the State Tourism Development Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized a festive event in Frankfurt am Main dedicated to Navruz, which was attended by over 400 German political economic, cultural and social activists, as well as media representatives. It is reported by the press service of the State Committee for Tourism Development of Uzbekistan.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony, Deputy Mayor of Frankfurt am Main Silvia Weber congratulated the participants on the Navruz holiday and in her speech emphasized the rich culture, history, customs, traditions, and also the tourist potential of Uzbekistan. It was stressed that such events play an important role in strengthening tolerance, friendship between the German and Uzbek peoples, and also give additional impetus to the development and deepening of cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism.

The performance of the band Tasno from Uzbekistan, which is located in Germany with the assistance of the State Committee of Tourism, made a warm impression on the German public about the art and culture of Uzbekistan. The event also demonstrated the products of Uzbek folk artisans, participants were given various promotional materials about the tourism potential of Uzbekistan.

In addition, organized a tasting of such traditional national dishes to Navruz as sumalak, cook samsa, pilaf, halim and others. Participants were also acquainted with the traditions of the Uzbek people associated with the spring holiday.

I am very pleased with the organization of today’s event in our city. The celebration of Navruz is widely celebrated in many countries of the world and occupies a special place in different cultures. It should be noted that the reforms in the tourism sector, carried out in Uzbekistan, are of great interest to the Germans. I hope that next year we will celebrate Navruz together - said Deputy Mayor of Frankfurt am Main Silvia Weber.

Today, the residents of our city became participants in a wonderful holiday, enjoyed Uzbek music and national dances, had the opportunity to taste samsa and pilaf, which they had never tried before. Of course, I am going to visit Uzbekistan in order to get closer to the historical cities, the rich traditions of the Uzbek people, their national clothing and amazing nature - said Albin Nazarenus-Fetter, a deputy of the local Council of Frankfurt am Main.
