Navoi State University to be established in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a resolution "On Measures for the Establishment of Navoi State University."

According to this document, Navoi State University will be founded based on the Navoi State Pedagogical Institute. The primary objective of the new university is to create a continuous education system for the training, retraining, and professional development of scientific and academic personnel, equipped with modern knowledge and skills that meet the future needs of various sectors in the region.

All students currently enrolled in the Navoi State Pedagogical Institute will continue their studies at the new university, and from the 2024/2025 academic year, graduates will receive university diplomas.

Starting in the 2025/2026 academic year, the university plans to begin training specialists in several in-demand fields, including:

- Exact and natural sciences;

- Information technology;

- Artificial intelligence;

- Economics;

- Business and tourism;

- Investment management;

- Agriculture;

- Ecology and environmental protection;

- Logistics.

To prepare personnel in these areas, joint educational programs will be implemented with leading universities in Uzbekistan and abroad, providing graduates with the opportunity to earn dual diplomas.

As part of the resolution, a Transformation Center will be established at the university, focusing on the following areas:

- Aligning educational programs with international standards;

- Developing and implementing measures to enhance the university’s ranking among prestigious global higher education institutions;

- Achieving international accreditation for educational programs and recognition of university diplomas abroad;

- Establishing a Registrar’s Office;

- Fully digitizing educational, research, and information-library activities, as well as management processes within the university.

Additionally, by 1 June 2025, the university will implement a system to check students’ final qualification works and master’s theses for plagiarism (anti-plagiarism).
