Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the next plenary meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the draft law “On amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the harmonization of the national legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the agreements of the World Trade Organization” was considered in the first reading.
The bill introduces amendments and additions to the relevant laws in the field of intellectual property. In particular, to eliminate unnecessary red tape and bureaucratic barriers in the process of registering intellectual property, simplify the processes of providing public services, the period for issuing certificates for the right to use a trademark, appellation of origin of goods and (or) the right to use the appellation of origin of goods will be reduced from ten to one day.
Along with this, it is envisaged that the amount of the state duty for state registration of enterprises with foreign investments will be equal to the amount of the state duty for state registration of business entities established by residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The adoption of the bill will serve to harmonize national legislation with the requirements of WTO agreements, create equal conditions for individuals and legal entities of the Republic of Uzbekistan and foreign countries.
