MTS-Uzbekistan, largest mobile operator of Uzbekistan, increased its subscribers by 4.8% in September, Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), largest the largest mobile phone operator in Russia and the CIS, said on 16 October.

Russian company said its Uzbek subsidiary attracted 230,000 new users in September and total number of subscribers made up 5.06 million. At the end of August, the company registered 4.83 million users.

As of 1 October 2008, the number of mobile subscribers in Uzbekistan comprised 10.8 million.
