MTS launches 3G network in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS), the largest mobile phone operator in Russia and the CIS, announces the launch of 3G networks in Uzbekistan.

Tashkent became the first city of Uzbekistan, where MTS launched new generation network for commercial exploitation. Currently, MTS ensured 3G coverage to all central part of Tashkent. The company plans to expand coverage area of 3G network in the capital city and launch network in Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench and Khiva.

The network combining 2G/3G is constructed in Uzbekistan with use of existing platforms under base stations without re-configuration of GSM base.

MTS said subscribers, in coverage area in Tashkent, can use all existing additional services in 2G and such innovative services like Video call and Fast 3G Internet. Fast 3G Internet is realized on HSDPA technology, which allows to transfer data at the speed 3.6 Mbit/s.

Tahir Irgaziev, marketing director of MTS Uzbekistan, said: “Launch of 3G network became important stage in development of MTS in Uzbekistan. Today, for MTS subscribers in Uzbekistan are available telecommunication services as Video call and Fast 3G Internet. In future, MTS plans actively develop new generation network via expanding coverage area and existing services and provide subscribers new opportunities of mobile communication.”
