MPs of Legislative Chamber, representatives of ministries and NGOs, as well as mass media participated at the seminar.

It was said that currently Uzbekistan gradually reforms social welfare of population and pension provision. It was noted that special attention is paid to vulnerable layers of population – family with large number of children, single elder people, people with disabilities, students and pensioners. Uzbekistan also creates effective mechanism on social protection of population, which is important factor for young country.

Participants said that the draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments to the law “On state pension provision of the citizens”, which was submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers to the Legislative Chamber and passed in the first reading, is directed at further improving pension system of the country.

Participants discussed clauses of the draft law and introduced several proposals on its improvements. MPs underlined importance of improving social welfare of pensioners and people with the disabilities, raising their level and life quality, etc.

Seminar participants adopted recommendations directed at further expanding and strengthening of the legislative base on improving pension system of Uzbekistan.
