Moscow hosts summit of CIS FMs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Moscow, Russia, on 8 April.

CIS Foreign Ministers exchanged opinions on key issues of the international agenda. For example, they touched upon the escalation of violence in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. A relevant statement was issued on behalf of the three co-chairpersons (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the Russian Federation).

The parties discussed the adaption of CIS activities to the modern level of multilateral cooperation and efforts to streamline the work of CIS agencies in the context of the 25th anniversary of the CIS.

As usual, the parties focused on cultural and humanitarian aspects of intra-CIS cooperation. They coordinated a number of important documents intended to help deepen and expand cooperation in healthcare, culture and education. They reviewed draft documents aiming to strengthen partnership between law enforcement agencies and defence ministries.

The parties agreed to hold the next meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers in Bishkek on 15 September 2016.
