Mongolia met with representatives of other Asian countries on Friday to discuss the mutual development of energy, trade and transport.

Meeting in Tashkent, representatives from Mongolia met with their counterparts from China, Russia, India, Iran, Pakistan Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan to discuss regional cooperation.

The meeting was sponsored by the regional security bloc, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and was attended by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

The group formally supported a Russian proposal to work together to institute large projects in energy, transport and high technology.

Projects discussed included creating a regional transport corridor linking Western Europe to the Asia Pacific region.

Also, China expressed a willingness to fund projects undertaken by nations attending the meeting.
