Modern sericulture complex to be established in Chinaz
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A modern sericulture complex is set to be established in Chinaz, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
During his working visit to Tashkent region on 14 March, Minister of Agriculture Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov reviewed the project for a mulberry plantation and silk production facility in the Chinaz area. The initiative aims to create a major production hub that will play a crucial role in advancing Uzbekistan’s silk industry.
The 9.7-hectare complex will allocate 4.6 hectares for cultivating mulberry saplings, with 4.7 hectares designated for existing plantations. Additionally, 400 square meters will be dedicated to the construction of the main production facility.
Once operational, the facility is expected to create 260 jobs, with a total investment of 8 billion soums. The project's implementation is planned for April–June 2025.
The production capacity will reach 350 boxes of silkworms per year and produce 25 tons of raw and semi-processed silk cocoons. The launch of the complex will not only increase production volumes but also modernize the sector, enhance product competitiveness, and expand export potential.
During the project's presentation, the Minister inspected the ongoing work and provided recommendations to ensure timely and high-quality completion of all construction phases.
