Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center hands over certificates to new residents
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 October 2017, Innovation center for support of development and implementation of information technologies Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center held a ceremony of awarding certificates to new residents of the Center.

On 24 October 2017, the Coordination Council of the Innovation Center adopted a protocol, according to which 53 legal entities received the status of the resident of the Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center.

As of 27 October 2017, total number of residents of Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center reached 81 legal entities.

President of Uzbekistan granted a number of privileges and preferences to the participants of the Innovation Center for support of development and implementation of information technologies “Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center”. In particular, the residents of the center are exempted from paying taxes and compulsory payments till 1 January 2028.

Employees of the residents of the Innovation Center will pay personal income tax at the rate of 7.5% and insurance premiums of citizens to off-budget Pension Fund at the rate of 4.5%.

“We are pleased that number of residents of the Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center is growing at a fast pace. IT companies of Uzbekistan express a great interest in the Innovation Center. Now we are considering applications of other companies and I think that the Innovation Center will soon unite more than 100 legal entities,” Khurshid Sultanov, Director of Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center, said.

“Our main goal is to develop the IT industry of Uzbekistan and increase the share of this sector in the country’s GDP. I call upon our residents to actively develop their activities and introduce new services and products to the market,” he added.

The Coordination Council of the Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center expanded the opportunity for IT companies to obtain the status of a resident of the Center.

According to the protocol of the Coordination Council from 24 October, the status of the resident of the Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center can now be obtained by legal entities, working in the area “Software Release” (OKED 58.2).

Legal entities, which release computer games (OKED 58210) and other software (OKED 58290), may qualify for resident status of the Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center.

Prior to adoption of the decision by the Coordination Council of the Innovation Center, legal entities working only in the field of “Computer programming, consulting and other related services” and “Data hosting and processing services, Web portals” could obtain the status of the resident of the Innovation Center.
