Mirziyoyev and Trump Hold Phone Talks on Trade, Security, and Investment
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 September, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the United States of America Donald Trump.
During the call, the two leaders discussed in detail practical aspects of further strengthening Uzbek–American relations, strategic partnership, and the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.
At the start of the conversation, President Trump highly praised and expressed support for the irreversible reforms implemented in New Uzbekistan in recent years, aimed at modernizing the economy and improving the welfare of the population.
In turn, President Mirziyoyev congratulated Donald Trump on the impressive results of U.S. domestic and foreign policy, highlighting America’s contribution to peaceful resolution of international and regional conflicts, as well as ensuring global security and stability.
Special attention was paid to the development of multifaceted cooperation. The sides reviewed joint business projects in priority industries and emphasized the significant growth of bilateral trade, which increased by 15 percent in 2024.
Prospective cooperation projects cover civil aviation, critical mineral resources, the electrical engineering industry, energy, agriculture, digital technologies, finance, innovation, education, and more. It was noted that this month a number of bilateral meetings and negotiations are planned with leading U.S. companies and organizations to establish long-term and sustainable partnerships.
The leaders also discussed effective cooperation in security, including joint efforts against terrorism, extremism, and illegal migration. Cultural and humanitarian exchange continues to expand, with branches of top American universities successfully operating in Tashkent.
It was noted with satisfaction that Uzbekistan’s national football team will make its debut at the FIFA World Cup next year in the United States. President Trump extended his sincere wishes for success to the team.
In addition, the two presidents exchanged views on key international issues, including deepening regional cooperation between Central Asian countries and the United States in the C5+1 format. President Mirziyoyev invited Donald Trump to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at a convenient time.
Both sides agreed to maintain regular high-level contacts to advance joint projects and practical cooperation.
The conversation took place in an open, constructive, and friendly atmosphere, reaffirming the mutual commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership.
